A thread on potatoes, the history of the potato and their versatility
The potato is a root vegetable native to the Americas, a starchy tuber of the plant Solanum tuberosum, and the plant itself, a perennial in the family Solanaceae. ( Not nabbed from Wikipedia promise x )
Wild potatoes can be traced back to Peru and Bolivia where 7,000-10,000 years ago they were domesticated. That's why you never see any potatoes in the wild
Potatoes were brought to Europe in the 16th century by the Americas. This means the potato is the greatest thing to come from Peru, closely followed by Jefferson Farfan
