NJT schedules are ridiculously complicated. On most lines, there& #39;s only about 2 trips for each distinct stopping pattern -- a level of rider-unfriendly complexity that sits atop the system& #39;s complete lack of consistent scheduling and infrequency.
For reference, the _most_ complicated NYCT service (the 5) has 10 trips per distinct stopping pattern -- and on NYCT, most of the stopping pattern variation is at the ends of the line vs through the heart of the route as on NJT.

Also, at the top of this thread, in what I now see is an ineloquent tweet, I meant to write “total lack of consistent arrival times” ie no clockface predictability in arrival times.
