Hypothetical: It's July. The government has allowed you to go back to work for a while, but cases have surged again. They say they still don't have enough capacity to test and contain, or good enough treatments, so they order everyone home again. What do you do?
It's October. Your kids have been at school for a month, but cases have surged again. The government says they still don't have enough capacity to test and contain, or good enough treatments, so they close schools again. What do you do?
What exactly is the long-term plan here? Exactly how much must we increase hospital capacity and testing capacity to return to a reasonable life? Are we on track for that? Can we be transparent about that?
Can we stop pretending there will only be one curve to worry about, and talk about our plans beyond that?
Right now I worry we won't succeed at saving any lives long-term, since the next wave around we'll be too short on resources still, but everyone will be too tired to do this again.
