Rockefeller.

The name is synonymous with wealth.

Lately the Rockefeller family has been mentioned in conspiracy circles especially involving the coronavirus vaccine.

Well that conversation is for another day.

I’m here to talk about John D. Rockefeller
John D Rockefeller was the founder of Standard Oil. Standard Oil made its money selling kerosene. Kerosene replaced whale oil as the main heating oil, and Rockefeller was able to sell it cheaper than anyone had ever done before.
Rockefeller did not grow up a wealthy man. Almost entirely self made, Rockefeller soon began to expand Standard Oil’s empire.

Rockefeller made deals to buy railroads and other refineries to eliminate his competition.
Rockefeller started standard Oil in 1870 and ran it until 1897. He remained the largest shareholder in the company until 1911 when Standard was broken up into 34 separate companies.
You might recognize some of them that are still around today. ExxonMobil, Amoco and Chevron are all under the Standard Oil umbrella.

If Standard Oil existed today, it would be valued at more than one trillion dollars.

It is by far the most successful company in world history
John D Rockefeller is also the richest man in the history of the world. He was a ruthless business man, but also extremely humble, religious and philanthropic.

Rockefeller lived to be 97 years old and gave away nearly $540milllion dollars
Rockefeller created the University of Chicago and Rockefeller university in NYC.

His children have been responsible for an immense number of public projects.
Johns Hopkins University was partially funded by the Rockefeller’s.

One of my favorite places on Earth, Colonial Williamsburg was largely funded by the Rockefeller’s.

MOMA and the Cloister museums in New York are also entirely funded by the Rockefeller’s
Rockefeller center. Lincoln Center. The United Nations Building. Even Acadia National Park. You get the point.

Of course the Rockefeller foundation also has some controversial ties. The foundation donated money to Nazi eugenic programs.
John D Rockefeller is a fascinating man. I believe he was a true genius and a very decent and honorable man.

I’m not sure the same can be said about his children though.

I will try and touch on the Rockefeller conspiracy in the coming days
Just know this. Love him or hate him, John D. Rockefeller is an American icon. This country would not be the same without him.

And odds are, you’ve enjoyed a park or museum, or even an entire city that was donated by John D Rockefeller
