Hey. Are you social-distancing? (You should be!) Are you being sexy with other people from a respectable distance? (Good for you!) Wanna spice up your shared home life? (Sounds fun!)

Let's talk about safe sexting!!
Ain't nothing wrong with sexting, y'all. It's just another form of expressing sexuality and it can be really fun! But we should go over some ways you can protect yourself while doing it.
(Before anyone goes "tHe SaFeSt ThInG iS nOt TaKiNg ThEm In ThE fIrSt PlAcE", this thread isn't for you. Fuck right off. We're about information and education here.)
Tip #1: Sext over a secure device!

If your shared tablet is attached to your phone, imagine someone else's horror of SURPRISE NUDES. No one likes nudes without consent.

Make sure you know what connects to your device, and that you're using a secured internet connection.
Tip #2: Store your sexy nudes off your device!

This way your nudes will still be secure if your device is stolen! Consider different secure apps to hold your photos.
Tip #4: Add 2FA to any account/device that involves nudes, and use secure passwords.

2FA and long, complex passwords make account security stronger. If someone else tries to access your account or device, this is a good deterrent.
Tip #5: Decide what you're comfortable with sharing.

This one might seem obvious, but consider identifying markers on your body, or your face. Do you want those associated with your nudes? Think about that before you take the picture.
Tip #6: Express boundaries with your sexting partner(s).

Some people are cool with their photos being shared or shown to others. Some people want it to be a special secret gift to you. Make sure everyone has established boundaries so there's no mix-ups.
Tip #7: Delete that shit if you're worried.

Don't want it on your phone anymore? Delete it! Make sure it isn't backed up to any cloud applications like DropBox or Google Cloud! Do frequent checks of your photo rolls and messages to make sure any unwanted nudes are yeeted.
Tip #8: Don't show messages on your home screen!

If you don't want to give a surprise peep show, turn your message previews off. Some devices will automatically show a picture preview in message previews. A casual passerby may see much more than they bargained for.
Tip #9: DON'T SEXT ON WORK DEVICES, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

Take it from the mouth of a security engineer. No one wants to have a conversation at work about how you need to use your monitored work devices for exclusively work please and thank you
Tip #10: Add a watermark!

That's right, you're art, and you deserve a watermark. In all seriousness, a casually hidden watermark makes it much easier to trace nudes if they ARE leaked, so you can pinpoint exactly who the fuckface is that broke your chain of trust.
(If a fuckface DOES break your chain of trust, that's called nonconsensual pornography.)

(It is not your fault.)
