@ReggieRockstone biography on "Hiplife and west African indigenization on Hip-hop" written by Halifu Osumare is one of the few Ghanaian books aside Nkrumah's currently in Russia's famous library for Foreign literature in Moscow.
I chanced on this book during the book launch of my poetry anthology "a longed Desire" at the Russian Library for foreign literature and I was very surprised at how much respect and credibility it was given during my book launch. Although the theme of the event was not music ,
The library was very pleased to own these few Ghanaian books. Speaking to the library coordinators and attendees after the event, the young people who were present showed interest in taking a good read because they wanted to know how African rap sounded. I was surprised at
how much people paid attention to that particular book aside other few books on Nkrumah. Russia is not really big on rap so ofcourse the young people there were eager to know what it was when you talk about African rap music and how it sounded. I had to divert attention from
my book and just have a little convo on people they should listen to. Long story short, i don't know much about Ghanaian music, the business and the whole buzz. All I know is sometimes people should be appreciated for what they once paved for, it doesn't only inspire Ghanaians
it inspires so many people around the world. Through this book, I built conversations and friendship till date with those who walked up to me to know about African rap music, this thread may not be relevant to the issue at hand but it's just notice to appreciate people who
havs been a contribution to African rap music and its history. Credits to the author Halifu Ousmare and to @ReggieRockstone I never knew a moment like this would come to spill this truth. Hope you see this. ❤ #Reggie
