Thread has some actual dialogue going. Granted the TRAs are projecting and straw-manning, but there’s an actual back-and-forth which is rare/nonexistent in most trans rights circles. Gives some better insight into their minds and how they think. https://twitter.com/aella_girl/status/1247569680115445761?s=21
Here Tina argues that what Aella said (how you perceive your identity isn’t how I perceive your identity) is the same as calling trans people subhuman. Tina is projecting some negative qualities onto being trans because nowhere in the message is that being said.
Tina obstinately perceives Aella’s view as looking down on trans people despite Aella’s explicit objections. Tina’s displaying an error in wrongly thinking Aella is denying trans people have a different experience of their identity when in actuality Aella’s disagreeing with it.
Denial of trans identities is not the same as disagreeing with trans identities. This erroneous conflation is likely where TRAs’ insistence of trans people existing originates. Subsequently, it’s also likely where the mantra “trans rights are human rights” is derived from.
Here it’s argued that regardless of Aella’s perspective she should, for all intents and purposes, shut up. It’s an excruciatingly ironic argument, since TRAs’ foundational argument in the same thread is based off of respecting other people’s perspectives so as not to erase them.
I could box-office commentate about this thread for a while since there’s a lot more interesting discussion going on, though I think this specific reply-chain gets at the heart of TRA mindsets, which are ironically close-minded and bigoted.
