So what, Onward made me cry when the younger brother had the checklist. That movie hit on a lot of my brother and I growing up. Our dad passed when we were 4 and 3 respectively.
We have a family friend who did a phony pregame show for my dad& #39;s fast pitch softball team. He would play the tape for us so we could hear his voice.
We used to meet friends of my dad& #39;s from his youth and they would tell us stories about him and we would take mental notes. Just like Ian in the fast food joint and his dad& #39;s college buddy.
I can count the number of memories I have of my dad, just like Barley (I have 12). My brother and talk about them 40 years later.
In High School, I was the loud, hard rock listening, nerd stuff obsessed (mine was Star Wars and I knew all of the side and backstories) just like Barley. My brother was reserved and quiet just like Ian.
Just like Ian and his dad& #39;s sweatshirt, I still have my dad& #39;s ripped softball jacket and it hangs in my closet.
But most of all, and the part that made me cry, I know my dad because my brother and I did all the things that father& #39;s and sons normally do but together and without a clue. The checklist got me.
