Thread:
I hear a lot of people saying Sony copied the Xbox controller with their new PS5 "Dualsense" controller and I& #39;m just kinda disappointed in my fellow gamers.

Let me give you guys a history lesson in controllers and how basically everyone copied everyone.
Let& #39;s start WAY back with the Atari 2600 controller which had ONE button and a directional joystick. Then NES controller came along, added one button, start and select and made the Dpad a standard. Sega then "copied" that layout with the Master System.
Then Sega came out with the Genesis controller which was basically a NES controller with one extra button.
So then Nintendo said "oh yeah you want more buttons? How about FOUR face button and TWO shoulder buttons" and then Sega was like "oh yeah? Now I& #39;ve got 6 face buttons!"
Sega stuck with the 6 face button design for the Saturn
Then Sony was building a CD addon for the SNES which died and caused them to make the PlayStation. They basically just took the SNES controller design and added two more shoulder buttons and some grips.
Then everyone was like "hey analog sticks are cool" and the Saturn 3D controller was basically a plate with the same layout as the standard one and an analog stick.
The N64 controller had a SNES layout mixed with the Saturn one but with the stick in the middle.
Sony also thought analog sticks and said "let& #39;s add TWO of them lol"
Now for the important part of this thread.
For the Dreamcast, Sega basically makes a mix of all the current controllers.
Saturn 3D shape, memory card slot like the N64, the button layout of the SNES/PS1.
