16 unhoused men and women who had been sheltering at St Francis Church on 26 and K were told last night that the former long term shelter will be closed. They were kicked out this morning
Their ages range between 19 and mid-70’s, with the average skewing older. Most of them have no experience sleeping on the streets and are afraid of the prospect, particularly during the coronavirus pandemic
They congregated this afternoon outside Sutter’s Fort with homeless advocates to try and find options for where they can sleep moving forward.

So far they’ve had no offers of assistance from @GavinNewsom, @Mayor_Steinberg or #Sacramento County.
