Feel like tweeting about movie scenes that gave me chills. This one from Wonder Woman, because it encapsulates why the movie works. We’re force-fed so many morose “reluctant” superheroes, but Diana is just like “I’m going to save the world. Follow me or get out of my way.”
Everyone thinks of Jaws as the Shark Movie, but Quint’s speech about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, and the harrowing, horrifying days that followed, is perhaps the most memorable monologue in movie history.
This shot in The Dark Knight caps maybe my favorite stretch in movie history: from the start of the armored car chase to Batman’s MCU interrogation to the Joker’s escape. I basically held my breath for 45 minutes.
This scene. My lord. When Shaw orders Trip to be whipped for stealing socks, onto to see with horror the absolute massacre of his back from god knows how many whippings. And that single tear. This movie. Chills.
Perhaps the most gleefully insane shot from the most gleefully insane scene from the most gleefully insane movie of all time. I could watch Evil Dead 2 over and over and over.
The calm before the storm in Desperado - aka one of the best gunfights in movie history. Honestly if you didn’t want to be Antonio Banderas after seeing this movie there’s something wrong with you.
The greatest betrayal in The Social Network isn’t about money or stealing websites, but about friendship. The culmination of Mark Zuckerberg’s betrayal of Eduardo Saverin, and Saverin’s reaction, are just phenomenal. One of the greatest movie scripts ever.
Wesley’s rescue of Princess Buttercup from Inigo Montoya, Fezzik, and finally Vizzini is inconceivably fun.
The most uncomfortably tense movie scene maybe ever. If you ever wondered why people are afraid of Joe Pesci, who’s maybe 5’2” in lifts, it’s this scene from Goodfellas.
If the leap of faith scene in “Into the Spider-Verse” doesn’t give you chills you are not human.
