I’ve read three completely different bits of journalism today, pointing to the fact that the UK is completely busking it. Firstly, this FT article from this morning (remember this morning! All that time ago!) on how the UK doesn’t have an exit strategy https://ftalphaville.ft.com/2020/04/04/1586015208000/Imperial-s-Neil-Ferguson---We-don-t-have-a-clear-exit-strategy-/">https://ftalphaville.ft.com/2020/04/0...
This excellent Reuters article about how we didn’t have much of an entry strategy either https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-britain-path-speci-idUSKBN21P1VF">https://www.reuters.com/article/u...
And lastly this on Matt Hancock’s disavowal of herd immunity https://bylinetimes.com/2020/04/06/the-coronavirus-crisis-a-distraction-of-the-governments-own-making-why-herd-immunity-wont-go-away/">https://bylinetimes.com/2020/04/0...
Somehow I find it reassuring that all three point in roughly the same way - to the same set of issues. So much about the current situation is unknown and untested, that there is hope to be found in there being clear gaps in leadership. Something can be done about that, after all.
