Now VERITY was right about GOD HAS NOT 4GOT being a bonafide smash it was even nominated for song of the year at the stellars the following year, but I knew this would eliminate any possibility for cross over because I knew that song wasn’t going mainstream.....

This is why I was reluctant because it didn’t fit the audio aesthetic of the direction of “02”. Once GHN4 went number one I knew my pop crossover ambitions had met its fate. I’m not complaining but the 02 you guys got commercially was not the album I turned in....

I’m not saying the final product was a disaster but label interference certainly kept it from being more widely popular. I was signed to JIVE not VERITY. It was always a battle there for my creative expression. JIVE was on board & wanted to cross me over but VERITY didn’t.

Even in the lyrics is BOUT A THANG I was talking about JIVE’s marketing plan: “BËT MTV in heavy rotation every station got it blazes it’s ok now just praise Him in advance”. Becuz they were about to launch BOUT A THANG in a big way. However the music video was not what I wanted.
