The mute feature is helpful. You can mute people, hashtags, and words. I use this feature often. I follow some awesome people, but I can't handle their self loathing, depression, obsession with news cycle, etc. Instead of unfollowing or arguing with them, I use the mute feature
Muting words prevents you from seeing people's tweets about topics. Some like to give their own commentary with RT others. Muting certain words prevents those tweets from being in your TL
Remember, you are not being mean by setting boundaries. You can only give from what you have on reserve. If your cup doesn't run over then it's not wise for you to give your emotional energy to others.
I personally know some people who take any type of tragedy and project it on to themselves. Some call themselves empaths. No, an empath will never purposefully take on an energy. If anything, we put the work in to keep certain energies OUT even if it's from ppl we love.
Protecting yourself mentally and spiritually during this time is imperative! It doesn't mean you love people less, it means you love yourself a bit more to know what you can and cannot handle right now.
I like this thread so I'm gonna use it for my Gentle Reminders. Here is 1 for today:
Some people don't reply to your communication, because they don't know what to say to you. It's not you. It's them. Be easy on yourself; it's not rejection. Be easy on them; they aren't capable.
