I love computers. I'm happy learning new things and giving it a go, and I'm confident enough to feel okay about it when it goes wrong. But I'm supremely aware that my experience is not everyone's experience, and we have to think of ALL teachers.

I'm also aware of the very different ways students react to learning online. Some love it and can manage things well, and some cannot cope with it at all. For some students it's just another barrier, a distraction, another thing to cope with. #TeacherLife #OnlineKaiako

And for some families, supporting their child/ren with learning is not easy. Maybe the caregiver is working, or there are many kids with various needs, or the kid has learning or emotional needs that make it challenging.

Or there's no device, or a shared device, no/slow internet, trouble paying for internet, difficulty navigating passwords and logins - so many technical issues that they may need help with and which we can't always solve remotely. It's not easy.

All of this is to say, please be kind with colleagues, your staff, your students and your students' families - be conscious that running a great online class and providing fabulous remote support is - as with any ako - only part of the story.
