I’m gonna start a thread of horror/thriller movies that don’t rely on jump scares to frighten you to watch over this quarantine. Feel free to add!
Hereditary - By far the scariest movie I’ve ever seen and if you know me, I don’t get scared. Horror movie of the decade. Chills down your spine. Uneasy the whole movie. So so good
Midsommar - Another great film by the same director who made Hereditary. Disturbing. Basically a really bad drug trip. Must watch but watch at your own risk, it’s very intense
Parasite - Not much of a horror movie, but man it delivers a message. If you are grown up and don’t mind subtitles, this is the movie. So good. Great plot twist. I get the hype
The Witch - Easily the most unsettling movie I’ve ever watched. From the first scene to the last, youre left with chills down your spine and constantly looking over your shoulder after
Goodnight Mommy - A German film, so like Parasite, you’ll need subtitles. But it’s such a visually captivating movie that you won’t really need them. INSANE plot twist. Absolutely insane
The Rite - One of my first introductions to horror. Intense. Horrifying. Makes you cover your eyes and ears at some points. It contains demonic possessions so if that’s not your thing, look at the other movies in this thread!
Nightcrawler - This is more of a thriller but man, it delivers. This guy is a psychopath and it’s so unsettling that at points, you empathize with him. Phenomenal acting from Jake Gyllenhall
