I highly respect and admire some of your work @JMakamba but when you share Jack Ma story remember what yourself and other politicians are doing poorly not to create Tanzania’s who will build $500bn co. in future. E.g internet policy etc. while you celebrate him.. https://twitter.com/jmakamba/status/1247514059865538560
Also ask yourself what were the policy environment set for him, and the Ma Huateng the founder of @TencentGlobal ? All these great Chinese companies had a grace period to build, had massive tax incentives, policies were made by these corporates and passed by the gov enable growth
Why can’t all of you African leader showcase to us, your next Jack Ma you’ve helped grow? What aren’t you in the parliament passing a Tanzania Startup Policy to allow growth and creates the next Jack Ma’s of Africa? Why? Startups are dying here, environment is bad and our leaders
Are praising other leader for being visionary enough to put policies and embrace disruption and innovation. As a result of such leadership that is all over Africa, African now is crowded by European, Asian, America founders building and been given incentives as investors while...
Our own startups are suffocating, and enablers are depending on that cheque from EU donors. You are one hell of a leader, you guys need to do better otherwise we the people are no more impressed by these tweets.
I would appreciate if one day you get to tweet about how much are these Tanzania startups valued at, at the moment @worknasi @MtabeApp @NALAmoney @smartclasstz @ipfsoftwares @shulesoft etc these are future Ma Huateng or Jack Ma of Africa but we need leaders to step up and see far
Today, Jack Ma’s influence Geopolitical influence is beyond even our African presidents. Meaning if Africa creates, and our leaders wakaacha mioyo ya husda na hira we will be having tech companies today responding and setting precedent on how Africa will deal with COVID-19
Since we don’t have, we are subjected to received donations from Jack Ma ( it’s a noble thing ) or subjected to hear French doctors reminiscing of using Africa as a test center. We remain weak geopolitical in tech, politically and financially. Do better!
I hope, you and your colleagues can work with @VenturesSahara @SmartLab255 @bunihub @costechTANZANIA and Tanzania tech startups to champion for a startup policy in Tanzania so that in the next 30 yrs my grandkids will post about @Benji_Fernandes as the African tech giants by then
With love and high respect to you, I know you can do better!
