When my hometown was ravaged by a hurricane in '05, it took YEARS for restaurants, businesses, etc. to get back to "full speed." Stores had reduced hours, restaurants had limited menus, etc. Obviously COVID-19 differs from a hurricane in many ways, but there will be similarities.
many places never reopened, and not because of damage. They never reopened bc they couldn't shoulder the economic costs of not having a steady flow of business for months on end. The same will be true for small businesses struggling right now bc of social distancing measures.
i just think we need to embrace ourselves for a world that will look drastically different whenever "outside" finally "reopens." That first brunch post-quarantine will likely not be as lit as we think or want it to be.
clearly i meant *BRACE ourselves lol. But embracing works, too. :)
