earlier today i used a common slang term while conversing with somebody. their response to the slang was that i shouldn’t speak that way because i’m white and it makes me sound uneducated. there are multiple issues with this statement which i will touch on in the following thread

the issue is that it’s assigning race to manners of speech, and states that if u don’t speak “white” u are therefore “uneducated.” tying whiteness to certain levels of education is flat out wrong and can be extremely damaging.

the slang i use is solely based off the area in which i grew up in. different places have different slang, there’s no need to attach race to it. any intro to sociology class can also tell u that but enjoy this thread for free.
