1) Today's thread o' stuff is inspired by news of the death of music producer Hal Willner. Among the TV series he worked on was Sunday Night/Night Music (1988-90). My father taped many of its episodes when it was rerun on...I want to say CBC?.
2) I dug through his tapes around the time my musical horizons expanded in high school/early university. My mind was kinda blown. So, today's thread is a few samples of the series that I enjoyed or influenced future listening.

First up, a little Sun Ra.
3) Next, a short retrospective on Rahsaan Roland Kirk.
4) Richard Thompson and Jo-El Sonnier, "Tear Stained Letter"
5) Conway Twitty and the Residents. End-of-show jams of most of the guests were a regular feature.
6) John Cale and Lou Reed with two songs from their "Songs for Drella" album
7) A full episode, ranging from vintage footage of Aretha Franklin's "I Never Loved a Man" to a wild version of the Stooges "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by...well, see for yourself (thanks to @mmmbarclay for reminding me of that one...)
