A caregiver journey.

It started with fighting the healthcare system to get my mother properly diagnosed.

Then the fight evolved into getting her surgery, and follow up chemotherapy, all while making sure at each stage that she didn’t lose her Medicare and Scan coverage.

/1
Then it was fighting for a secondary diagnosis when she began to become fatigued.

Then it was fighting to get her onto an immunotherapy that could extend her life.

Then it was fighting to AGAIN be sure she didn’t lose her Medicare and Scan coverage.

/2
Now it is fighting to make sure her biweekly treatments are as safe and isolated as possible.

At no point in this journey have I been able to trust a single doctor, nor administrator.

Every decision made is based on profit first.

/3
From the types of treatments, to the frequency of testing, to medications, to the constantly overbooked appointments, every single step is far closer to being cattle than a patient.

She worked in good faith for 46 years, paying taxes, social security, and all the rest.

/4
But here, retired, sick, and on fixed income, she is literally nickeled and dimed to near death.

As long as healthcare is for profit it will happen to everyone in our country.

And not all of our needy, our elderly, have stubborn advocates.

Will you?
