alright listen up st ed’s
here is where st ed’s messed up-
1. many professors are still holding lectures via zoom and including attendance, but decided that since students don’t have to physically attend class, they’ll have a million extra assignments to do. the fact that some students have to work
extra to help support them or their families, some don’t have resources to do online classes, some have other family members or take care of or some are just doing whatever they can to not literally DIE has not been taken into consideration by faculty. like i previously said,
everyone has a different situation right now, and school is NOT everyone’s top priority. it’s selfish to think that students are gonna put school first when we’re literally in a global pandemic (i said this in my tweets before this thread)
2. telling students to move out before april 5th is difficult AND dangerous to public health. by that time, everyone was already being advised to stay indoors and avoid contact with people. move out is a busy and crowded process, especially when it’s done so quickly.
students and their families come from all sorts of different places and it was completely possible for covid-19 to spread throughout the moving out process. traveling was also noted as dangerous for public health at the time that st ed’s implemented this move policy, and many
students had to fly home. moving is also expensive. storage units, gas, and plane tickets (even if these prices are all lower) can be too expensive for some students to pay, especially when they were told to do all of this before april 5th. this announcement was made march 18th,
