A thread on emotions: It would be difficult to find someone not affected by the current crisis we're in. Whether it means having lost a job, being furloughed, having to work extra hours because you're an essential employee, being more exposed to the virus because of your job or
knowing someone that experienced any one of those things. I'll be honest, I've had a breakdown at least once a day for the past 10 days where something will just trigger tears flowing (further showing how important it is that we continue to check on each other).
Remember, it's okay to cry. It's okay not to cry. It's okay to feel emotional. It's okay to not react like people expect you to react to things. It's okay to be frustrated. It's okay to be sad. It's okay to find joy in little things that you didn't before.
It's okay to learn to appreciate new things. It's okay to grieve. It's okay to have things that normally wouldn't trigger you to cry...now make you cry. It's okay to not be okay. It's okay to try to be the strong one for someone else...
and it's okay to feel like you can't always be the strong one. It's okay to be confused. It's okay to have so many questions. It's okay to be hopeful. It's okay to just sit and think. In the end, it's going to be okay. We're going to be okay.
We're going through a challenging time right now, and listening to our violas perform Amazing Grace made me cry. It made me cry tears of hope. It made me cry tears of grief for lives lost. It made me cry tears of worry for those fighting this disease and so many other battles.
It made me cry tears of sorrow. It made me cry tears of not necessarily knowing what's next. It made me cry tears of joy at the beauty of it. The important thing however, is that it made me feel.
I hope this performance helps you feel, and gain the courage to know that it's okay.
