So to pass the time in quarantine I'm gonna make a thread on all the builds I've done so far in my current MC world. All builds are directly based off of irl buildings of the late roman & Byzantine era, formed mainly from academic sources & archaeological reconstructions.(THREAD) https://twitter.com/RandyDandy63_/status/1247396196987133953
First off, my most complete & rigorous build yet, the Basilica of Constantine & Maxentius in Rome. Built in the 4th century, it was the largest building in the Roman Forum. The basilica, widely considered a masterpiece, has influenced many architects since the Renaissance.
Next up, The Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople. Once the second largest church in Constantinople after the Hagia Sophia, it served as the and burial place for all the Emperors of Byzantium. Unfortunately however, it was destroyed in 1461 to build the Fatih Mosque.
(WIP) My current project is the Church of the Hagia Sophia in Thessaloniki is one of the oldest churches still standing in Thessaloniki today, and was the one of the only grand churches of the city that survived the great fire of 1917, which destroyed the city's cathedral.
I have like 30 more builds to showcase but I'm too lazy rn, if u guys wanna see them RT this thread more
