I turned 30 I couldn’t be more excited about the future. So I’m gonna do a “what I’ve learned over the past decade” thread:
So 10 years ago I was 20.. (duh).. in varsity and facing a lot of uncertainty in my life. This included school, personal life, etc. The one thing that I’ve always been sure of is that I’ll make it one day. By the grace of God. I pray.. a lot. Even back then.
What I learned is that everything works out eventually. As long as you put in the work. If you pray, pray that God directs your path. Mostly, try not to worry so much about the future. Everything works out if you work at it.
I’ve leaned that love will find you. At the right time and when you’re ready for it. Try to relax and enjoy ur life. No need to worry about being single. When the time is right, the right person will come your way..at the right time. Have responsible fun.
Get your drivers license as you as you can afford too. This is very important. Your insurance premiums are lower the older ur license is when you finally buy a car. I wish someone told me that

If you’re blessed enough to get a job, please respect it. Do what you have to, when you have to do it. Try to keep a good record at work. It matters more than you think. It’ll also matter when it’s time to move on and you’re looking for another job.
Get property as soon as you can afford to. Better paying off ur own bond than someone else’s bond. If you can afford it. Government offers a housing subsidy when your probation is over.. use it.
Work on yourself. The sooner you stop caring what the world thinks, the sooner you’ll truly be free n happy. You have one life to live and you gotta live it on your own terms. Time flies faster than you think so don’t live anything to chance. You’ll be 30 sooner than you think. Then you’ll be 40.. and so forth. Point is, you won’t know where the time went. So take advantage of your 20s and do what you need to set up ur 30s.
Failure doesn’t determine where you’ll end up. You can get up and try again as many times as you need to. You should also be able to recognize when something isn’t working out and keep it moving.

You don’t have to do exactly what society says you should be doing. Remember, do what you feel is right for you. Not bcoz ur friends are doing it. It’s time to be an adult now.

Remember that choices and decisions have consequences. You’re not a kid anymore, you’ll have to handle your consequences. They may not show up now, but eventually they will. Think they every decision you make. Seek counsel if you must especially for big decisions.
Those that believe in God.. turn to Him when it’s going bad but don’t forget Him when it’s going good. Ask Him for strength. I don’t believe there’s anything too big or too small for Him to handle. I’ve believed in Him n He’s yet to fail me.
Sometimes when one door closes, another won’t open immediately but it will. At the right time. Remain strong and believe that you’re destined for greatness and that your opportunity is on its way. Manifestation works the same way faith does. If you believe it enough, it’ll happen
Remember that there’s only one you. Your unique mind, talent and personality are part of your wealth. Be you. Be original. Don’t be a copy cat. Don’t try to fit in. Trends come and go. Remain unique. Remain YOU.
God loves you. Just give it your all and you’ll be fine. Pray. Don’t forget to have responsible fun. I promise, you’ll be okay. It’ll all work out. That’s what I would tell 20 year old me.
