I just have to vent about this little thing.

So, thousands, probably tens of thousands of people, requested ballots on time but didn& #39;t get them.

The state tracker says they were "mailed."

Maybe they were mailed. Maybe a label was printed but a ballot wasn& #39;t sent.

Maybe there& #39;s a glitch in the data and a ballot wasn& #39;t sent.

Regardless, these voters didn& #39;t get a ballot.

Municipalities, however, have options. For example, they could email or fax a ballot, and the voter can print it and then submit it. Until Sunday, that is.

Apparently, there& #39;s a provision of state law, in which you can& #39;t do that Monday or Tuesday.

Even if you are a voter, who requested a ballot on time, and didn& #39;t receive your ballot.

So for those voters, who did everything the way they were supposed to...

And that is to risk their health and safety, and perhaps the entire community& #39;s health, and go to the polls.

If they are sick, obviously they can& #39;t go. If they are self-isolating with someone who is at risk, they obviously can& #39;t go.

GOP/ SCOWIS/ SCOTUS don& #39;t care.

It gets worse. So, last night, some of us thought if you& #39;d requested a ballot on time, you could still get an email ballot.

The WI Election Commission, late last night, said no way no how.

We had to issue corrections ...

(changing things hour by hour had already resulted in mass confusion, right?)

But today, new information. Turns out, if you requested a ballot on time, but it *wasn& #39;t "mailed"* then you CAN get an email ballot.

But wait, "mailed" doesn& #39;t mean what you think it does.

The test is whether state& #39;s database says it was "mailed." It doesn& #39;t matter if it ACTUALLY was "mailed" or not. What matters is whether the state THINKS it was "mailed."

So there& #39;s fewer than 10,000 voters who qualify for these ballots... but most of them don& #39;t know it.

This is just one SMALL example of how screwed up this is. I could do a whole & #39;nother thread on people who THOUGHT the 13th was the deadline but it changed after it was too late for them.

8/x
For example, one friend& #39;s daughter mailed her ballot to her yesterday, from her main home to the place she is staying to care for a family member. She thought she had until the 13th. Now her ballot is in transit, and she won& #39;t get it back in time.

9/x
Or all the people who simply are out of luck because they can& #39;t go to the polls for health/safety reasons, but never received their ballot.

10/x
This is not democracy. This is not freedom. This is not the America we deserve.

SCOTUS, SCOWIS, the intransigent, extremist, power-hungry, corrupt, right-wing GOP legislators, they are all to blame.

11/x
And make no mistake, some people will get sick, die, or be permanently injured because they chose to vote instead of having their voice silenced.

12/x
We are supposed to be past having to die for the right to vote. That was "history."

But it is here today.
