#BREAKING: More than $200,000 worth of surgical masks ordered by the city are being recalled after not meeting specifications
4000 boxes containing 50 masks each were received. 62,600 masks were distributed to long-term care homes on March 28th
The city is investigating how many employees in long-term care homes were caring for a patient while wearing the masks and if there was possible exposure to #COVID19
The masks were reportedly ripping and tearing and so they're being returned to the vendor. No word from the city who that is at this point.
The city claims there is a stockpile of surgical masks it can tap into in the meantime. Not sure why there is a stockpile when there's been a shortage.
Only now is the city saying there will be a "quality control review" of supplies being ordered. "All future orders of personal protective equipment will be subject to heightened verification."
Daily Toronto #COVID19 update from Mayor @JohnTory and Dr. @epdevilla scheduled for 3:45pm. More info to come.
