I think vents are something that you use as a last resort, not your main go to item to put everyone on. Its not gonna fix the problem its just gonna keep you going a while longer. Its like you break a leg & your mom gives it a kiss. Yea u feel better but eventually it catches up

By the time you put people on them their lungs are already filled with fluid. It sounds kind of sadistic to me to let them slowly choke as the ventilators can no longer help them. Allegedly.
