THREAD: Congrats @DrLeanaWen!!
1/ #COVID19 is a disease of isolation in a time when mothers need community and support more than ever. We already had a maternal mortality crisis in the US before #SARSCOV2. I am so worried about the compounded psychological trauma to new mothers https://twitter.com/DrLeanaWen/status/1246427993196593154
2/ That the normal feeling of being #overwhelmed and anxiety as a #newmother is now amplified by our necessary #SocialDistance distance and the backdrop of uncertainty and fear we are all experiencing right now. So how do we better #supportmothers now? @PoojaLakshmin @drjessigold
3/ The tools to offer more remote care exist: online support groups, psychiatric telehealth, lactation help, partial PT, and family planning. @4thTriProject has been doing fantastic work, but is it possible to more widely disseminate this type of care for #mothers? @astuebe
4/ There are so many different layers to this population, including: #healthcareprofessionals who are pregnant on the #frontline and compounded pre-existing racial #disparities for black mothers. @uche_blackstock @MamaDoctorJones @DrJenGunter @doctorjenn @choo_ek @meganranney
5/ We should better centralize clinical trial enrollment, registry information, and published data for #motherswithCOVID19.

Thank you for reading and please amplify to help improve care for #mothers in this impossibly chaotic time.
