@LibyaDesk investigated yesterday's shutdown of the Man Made River. Here's what we found.

{A Thread}
A few days ago, an explosion took place 5-6km from #Shwerif when landmines went off. Landmines have recently been planted across the region by cells affiliated to General Ali Kana.
Kana's forces are aligned with the #GNA and were behind the attack on El-Feel oilfield back in November 2019.

General Mohamed BinNayil, the #LNA's head of security for the region, was tasked to investigate the explosions.
BinNayil arrested several suspects after finding the same mines that were used in recent explosions in the South.

Subsequently, BinNayil arrested all known affiliates of the suspects and sent them to #Benghazi for questioning.
Locals from Shwerif confronted BinNayil, demanding the release of their sons & claiming they were not involved in the attack.
BinNayil reportedly responded by saying he could not show favouritism to his own tribe (the Mgarha) & asked them to wait until the investigation was over.
A small group from Shwerif, frustrated at the arrests, decided to close the water supply in protest, demanding the immediate release of their friends.

The #LNA is currently speeding up investigations into the matter in order to ease tensions.
