Sometimes I think about how many people (including me) viewed Obama's win/presidency as a kind of return to America's normal slow evolution into something better. Like, "whew, we're back on our arc." What's so clear now is that Obama, not Trump, was the anomaly.

America's normal is white reactionaries shutting down attempts to make the country more decent & less violent. 2008-2010 was just a brief move in the other direction, more than enough to inflame the reactionaries & start yet another round of backlash. Trump is our back-to-normal.

Now, a fun quarantine game: follow this thread and for everyone who comes along and tries to establish their grizzled, worldly twitter cred with some variant of "I knew the bad thing was bad before you did" ... drink! With luck we can all be wasted by lunch.
