No one asked but I& #39;m gonna do a little thread about a bit of geology from my home town, because I walked past a nice exposure while doing my daily exercise
This exposure shows some jointed sandstone with sed structures like crossbedding and ripples, and is interbedded with siltstone.
Almost 24 years of walking down this path and tbh this is the first time I& #39;ve thought to look at the sed structures up close

The exposure is in Haigh Hall Woodland Park, and this area is sat on top of a graben formed by the Great Haigh and Saint Catherine& #39;s faults, which were formed during the Variscan orogeny ~290 ma

Along with extensive faulting the Variscan orogeny also caused some gentle folding in this area. An article I read online says there& #39;s an exposed syncline a few 100m down the path from where I took these photos and walked past today...I& #39;ll keep an eye out next time
