When I get low spirited about what’s going on in this country, I remember all those condescending Americans who lectured me on the indestructible checks and balances and I just want to punch them in the fucking face.

There are many reasons why this country is presently coming apart, but the delusional, arrogant belief in its exceptionalism takes the contaminated cake.

The present, apocalyptic, structural failure is quite astonishing, and it is nowhere near over.
