Last week I put a callout asking key workers to send me selfies of them at work to illustrate as part of a big collage.
Here’s the first part

We have a culture of only celebrating and recognising people in death. I want to celebrate key workers RIGHT NOW. (1/5)
Here’s the first part

We have a culture of only celebrating and recognising people in death. I want to celebrate key workers RIGHT NOW. (1/5)
As the key worker death toll rises, the language of war and heroism has enabled this government to reframe negligence as a celebration of their ‘sacrifice’, as if death is the natural side effect to the work they do. (2/5)
Let’s be clear: the death of key workers should never be normalised. They have been systematically undervalued, underpaid, overworked and left UNPROTECTED by this government. (3/5)
No one signed up to risk their lives at work. No one is asking for claps or war medals. They’re asking for adequate protection and they’ve been neglected. (4/5)
This is my celebration of this workforce. But the best way to celebrate them is to protect them.
Thank you for all you do, always.
Part 2 of the collage coming soon on my Instagram.
