“But if the WHO had harshly attacked the Chinese response, we would have gotten even less cooperation and information out of China.”
That’s not how reality works though. If anyone cooperates less, then they are considered untrustworthy. Simple as that. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/04/06/trump-blew-it-not-who-fauci-or-jews/

It’s very dangerous to have it either Trump blew it or the WHO + China blew it. The reality is that all three blew it, and there’s Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea to explain why. Where was the mention of Taiwan’s timeline in this article when defending the WHO here?
Where is also the mention of @Axios timeline that the Chinese government failed to raise concern for the virus a whole month before January, or even when patient zero was in the middle of November? Or what about Li Wenliang/other doctors initially arrested during cover-up?
So referring to this WaPo opinion piece’s description of the WHO timeline, it took 2 months until end of January to finally reveal the true extent of #COVID19 and human-to-human transmission. Yet, #Taiwan sounded the alarm to WHO earlier on Jan. 1st: https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2020-04-05/taiwan-s-advance-on-who-in-covid-19-shows-its-place-in-world
The fact that this WaPo opinion piece neglected so many events pointing to the flawed response by both the WHO and China (and instead blaming it solely on Trump) makes this piece also flawed and uninformed. All 3 blew it, in different extents. WHO/China more than Trump. #COVID19
WaPo disregarding evidence by giving the WHO and China benefit of the doubt while ridiculing Trump also sorta gives Chinese propaganda an edge ahead. I'm not defending Trump's delayed response here (& his initial wrong remarks), but read this too: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/wxe9yq/the-chinese-government-has-convinced-its-citizens-that-the-us-army-brought-coronavirus-to-wuhan #COVID19
I don't want to pit Taiwan against China and WHO in this thread. That's unnecessary. What's necessary tho (main pt), is for everyone to work together and for all voices + expertise to be heard and respected. Better management. This would've led to fewer deaths worldwide. #COVID19
