1/ The only people saying “put politics aside” are those that are happily indifferent 99% of the time & are therefore blissfully comfortable ignoring the fact that *everything* about this, how we’re handling it & how we’ll recover from it is inherently and unavoidably political.

2/ Many people don’t have the luxury of being indifferent to politics, because their lives are filled with sobering reminders of the ways their country underfund & undervalue their lives.Right now these failings are clearer & more dangerous than ever, and you want to ignore them?

Don’t try and disguise your apathy as empathy. Your privilege and ability to stay neutral, or “put politics aside” doesn’t make you morally superior, it makes you complicit. 3/3
