This is a great question, and has a few answers. So I want to do a mini thread.
Short answer: not really, long answer: it& #39;s complicated. https://twitter.com/snorkfr0ken/status/1247518920338096131">https://twitter.com/snorkfr0k...

Your reaction times do slow with age eventually, but not that noticably, and certainly not in the sort of way that would account for performance dips as you age from a kid to adult. Unless you& #39;re in your 50s, this is unlikely to make a difference.
But other things DO change. People can get tendonitis or other physical issues which inhibit their ability to play. You& #39;d normally know this was the reason though. The big differences are actually a) learning and b) perception.
When you get older, you& #39;re worse at learning new things. This is partially because you already have habits and muscle memory, so if you& #39;re trying to pick up something new you might be actively fighting learned behaviours.
Not only that, but the younger you are the more *time* you have to learn, hone and improve. Older people have jobs, responsibilities - even a social life (once upon a time). Kids just have more hours to pour into gaming, and more inclination to doso. The grind is easier for them.
But then you get perception. And frankly; who you play and what you know about them is very different now. When late 20s/30s/40s gamers were young you& #39;d play your friends. Maybe some randoms online. And you didn& #39;t get to communicate much.
Now you have VOIP so you hear a kid swearing at you in Russian, but also you have more message boards and the games actively match you into situations where you& #39;ll lose 50% of the time. No matter how good you are, you know that people are better, and you& #39;re losing a lot.
So your *perception* of how good you are probably takes a hit too.
But reactions? Nah, those are pretty stable. It& #39;s Life you want to be wary of.
