Today was filing day for candidates to be on the ballot in the Aug 4 primary election. There weren& #39;t many surprises but some elections at the #AZLeg worth watching:

1/
In #LD6 Senate Wendy Rogers and Sylvia Allen are set to duke it out in a contentious race where Rogers is raising big bucks to unseat a seemingly well liked incumbent. Felecia French has the opportunity to capitalize on a tough primary for a Dem pickup.
In the #LD6 House Brenda Barton is making an attempt to comeback but will be facing Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans for the open seat. Blackman has a tough fight ahead as underfunded as he was 3 months ago.
Former Dem lawmaker Barb McGuire is running for Senate again in #LD8. A lot of neigh sayers about it& #39;s viability but if anyone can do it, it& #39;s Barb. Her name recognition and experience could help Girard& #39;s in the House too if their able make an effective team.
The #LD8 House has a primary where the incumbent R David Cook has multiple ethics complaints that are starting to heat up. A nasty primary and overhanging issues could leave the door open for Girard to pick up a seat for Democrats.
R Senator Heather Carter has now officially earned her primary opponent in #LD15 from the right, Rep Nancy Barto. It& #39;ll be interesting to see if Carter& #39;s war chest holds up against a tried and tested social conservavtive warrior like it has before.
#LD17 R Senator JD Mesnard has gained a Dem opponent after a long recruitment effort. For awhile it was starting to look like he may be able to walk across the finish line after a close won in 2018.
#LD18& #39;s D& #39;s all have opponents this cycle. Former longtime R legislator Bob Robson is attempting a comeback in the rapidly changed district after Mitzi Epstein beat him in 2016.
Dem Doug Ervin is challenging R Senator Paul Boyer again this year. Will be interesting is Boyer& #39;s new found indepence helps or hurts his chances in this quickly narrowing Republican leaning #LD20
On the House side, R& #39;s Shawnna Bolick and Anthony Kern are gearing up for a re-election without a primary against D Julie Schweibert. This #LD20 single shot seat is probably the top target for Dems looking for a pickup in the House by most accounts.
Interestingly, after a falling out of alliances and a mounted primary challenge against Senator Juan Mendez, Representative Athena Salman failed for get on the ballot to challenge him in #LD26. Mendez isn& #39;t totally in the clear though with a primary challenge from a Jana Granillo
#LD27 will also have a highly competitive Dem primary with Catherine Miranda attempting a comeback against Representarives Reginald Bolding and Diego Rodriguez.
I can& #39;t forget about the Tucson area Dem primaries of course! #LD2 has a 4 way for 2 seats. Delassandro is attempting to move down from the Senate while D Hernandez is the only incumbent. Peard and Parra have their sights on that open seat as well, Or do they plan on teaming up?
Cano and A Hernande face a #LD3 House Dem primary as well by Javier Soto, a Union backed candidate.
#LD10 is a 3 way Dem primary for 2 seats. DeGrazia is an incumbent so presumably Stephanie Hamilton and Paul Stapleton-Smith will duke it out for the open seat.
