[cont] Here is the WHO/Trump timeline from February regarding the #COVID19 #coronavirus outbreak. I combed through the @WHO feed thoroughly. Use this info every time some hack tries to claim a false date or period where we should have known what was going on:
2/1 WHO (again) declares that handling packages from China is safe.

2/3 WHO declares a “public health emergency of international concern” because of the signs of “human-to-human transmission outside China” [just a few days after claiming the opposite]
2/4 WHO reports 20,471 confirmed cases/425 deaths in China;

176 cases/1 death (Philippines) outside of China

2/5 WHO states that 99% of cases are in China, and 80% of those are from the Hubei province
2/6 WHO reports 28,060 confirmed cases/564 deaths in China;

225 cases/1 death outside of China

2/7 TRUMP states that he spoke to Xi and hopes that the virus will weaken as the weather warms. He reiterates that he is working closely with China
2/11 Dr. Tedros welcomes hosts a forum in Geneva, “especially our sisters & brothers in China.”

2/11 WHO settles on a name ( #COVID19) for the virus, making it clear how important it is for the name to “not refer to a geographical location, animal, individual or group of people.”
2/11 WHO announces 42,708 confirmed cases/1017 deaths in China;

393 cases/1 death outside of China

2/11 WHO gives a shout-out to ‘Women in Science Day’ [whatever that is] and ties it to solving the virus matter
2/11 WHO suggests a link between the virus and bats but how it was transmitted to humans remains “unclear”

2/11 WHO states that Chinese groups are trying to identify the animal source...”to ensure that there will be no further similar outbreaks...”
2/12 WHO suggests that Brazil and Mexico are potential hotspots [can we talk some more about opposition to border security?]

2/12 WHO states that their “greatest fear remains the damage this coronavirus could do in a country like the Democratic Republic of Congo.”
2/12 WHO states that the number of countries reporting cases outside of China has not changed; of 48 new cases outside of China, 40 were on the Diamond Princess cruise ship
2/12 WHO lectures through two separate tweets about “stigmatizing individuals or entire nations” as harmful to the response to the outbreak

2/13 WHO suggests that the outbreak in Hubei province is flatlining at 13,332 confirmed cases
2/14 WHO states that countries around the world are better prepared than they were just a week earlier

2/14 WHO announces 47,505 confirmed cases/1381 deaths in China;

505 cases/2 deaths (Vietnam, Japan) outside of China

2/14 WHO gives a shoutout to healthcare workers in China
2/16 WHO announces 70,635 cases/1772 deaths in China;

694 cases/3 deaths outside of China

2/17 WHO cautiously implies a decline in new cases while stating that COVID-19 appears to not be as deadly as other coronaviruses including SARS and MERS
2/18 WHO: “In the past 24 hours, there have been 110 new cases outside of China, including 99 on the Diamond Princess cruise ship.”

2/20 WHO announces 74,675 cases/2121 deaths in China;

1076 cases/7 deaths outside of China (5 cases/2 deaths in Iran)
2/20 WHO states that outside of China, over half of all cases are among passengers of the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

2/21 WHO announces 75,567 cases/2239 deaths in China;

1152 cases/8 deaths outside of China (Iran reports 18 cases/4 deaths)
2/21 WHO again suggests that number of cases in Hubei province is declining

2/21 WHO praises measures China has taken to contain the spread [of course, these measures don’t apply to countries that have rights and liberty]
2/22 According to WHO, China has had only two more cases and zero deaths since the day before

1200 total cases/8 deaths outside of China
2/22 WHO expresses concern about cases with no clear link to China (such as a travel history) [Just weeks earlier, WHO dismissed the idea of travel restrictions to/from China; I’ve come across nothing that suggests they ever rescinded that guidance]
2/24 WHO reports 77,632 cases/2618 deaths in China;

2074 cases/23 deaths outside of China

2/25 WHO (again) lectures about stigma, suggesting that stigma can drive people to hide symptoms, prevent people from seeking help and discourage them from adopting healthy behaviors
2/25 TRUMP touts the work of the CDC and his “closing of our borders to certain areas of the world” and how it was opposed by Democrats. He announces a briefing for that afternoon
2/26 TRUMP blasts CNN and MSNBC for politicizing the virus and panicking markets and announces a press conference to discuss the virus

2/27 WHO reports 78,630 cases/2747 deaths in China;

3474 cases/54 deaths outside of China [END OF THREAD]
