Boy tweets like this make me (and I'm guessing anyone else who did services before the "microservices" trend) feel old https://twitter.com/GergelyOrosz/status/1247132806041546754
Services have been a good idea for a long time, microservices have been at best a marketing fad and at worst a bad idea for all the reasons listed, words have no meaning, maybe this industry should occasionally try to hire people who have worked for more than 10 years
The special thing about microservices is that they popularized the concept of services at the moment in which creating and operating a services architecture became significantly easier thanks to the cloud among other things
Getting good at deploying individual systems at scale is a useful thing you have to figure out more quickly with microservices than normal services. But I haven't lately heard a compelling argument for them over reasonably right-sized services.
