There were no delivery times available for Instacart or Peapod for the stores in my town for the next two weeks. We last ordered groceries two weeks ago and are running thin, so I had to take a trip out this morning. Here are my observations. 1/
I went to the Stop & Shop in Southington. The parking lot was pretty empty. I walked in and signs on the door notified shoppers to limit buying two per item due to limited stock. The first 12 people I saw upon entering were not wearing gloves or masks. 2/
There were arrows on the floor directing one-way traffic. Most shoppers were not abiding by the arrows, including in narrow aisles. I also got stuck behind several people who were leisurely browsing. 3/
In an attempt to get to the end of a one-way aisle to get diapers for my daughter, I got stuck behind a woman who was wearing neither gloves nor a mask and was picking up and setting down multiple products. I waited behind her for 10 minutes before she proceeded down the aisle.4/
And then, thanks to the lovely people who are making masks out of diapers and hoarding diapers/wipes, I couldn’t get diapers for my daughter. So I guess we’ll try again another time. 5/
The staff was on top of everything, though — I saw employees wiping down handles in the refrigerated section, everyone was wearing gloves and masks and at least one person was wearing a face shield. 6/
Anyway, I was happy with the measures the store has implemented but people are disregarding them so it almost seems to negate those efforts.
