Arab Sunnis constantly persecuted Assyrian Christians out of the biggest christian Area in Baghdad because they were seen as ‘easy targets’, hundreds of ADM members were jailed or killed under Saddam.
Notable Sunni Attacks Against Shias in Iraq VS Notable Shia Attacks Against Sunnis in Iraq (according to wikipedia)
Sunni Arab leader like Saddam Hussain despite being “secular” secularists and Saddamists love claiming ISIS would’ve never existed if he was still alive. Guess who helped and funded ISIS after his death
Saddam Hussein’s daughter in Jordan openly admits to funding and helping ISIS and Terrorist Insurgency as far back as 2007
Even if Sunni Arabs weren't in ISIS during the Iraq civil war between 2014-2017, lots were allied in different groups including Free Iraqi Army (dollar store version of FSA) who were saddamist Militas allied with ISIS against the Iraqi government during the fight against them.
After the Death of ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, the new leader is a man named Abdullah Qardash who was a Major General within Saddam's Army.
The Height of ISIS conquest of Iraq saw all Sunni Arab Territory being conquered
Saddamist Christians main defense is that Saddam Hussain was peaceful to Christians, Saddam didn't care because he treated Iraq like his own factory or business while many did live in poverty...
Arabisation campaign almost saw absolute collapse of the Assyrian identity. Including long term damage of diaspora Chaldean Catholics developing the Saddamist effect in the long term that destroyed the Chaldean Catholic's Church credibility of preserving the Assyrian identity.
Wh-what about Tariq Aziz: Why do you think Tariq Aziz was a Foreign Minister, why would Saddam give him such credibility? Because he's Christian, if the foreign minister was Christian, western leaders would be more comfortable with dealing Iraq outside it wasn't due to Saddam..
being close with Tariq, as long as he was making Saddam money while many ethnic groups and tribes were seperated all over Iraq so they would never be a collectivist uprising like the 1991 uprising. The Arab Sunnis became the new and respected upper class.
Saddam killed thousands of Assyrians.

He banned the Assyrian identity and forced us to identify as Arabs. As a result, hardly any Assyrians are literate in our own language and can only communicate in writing in foreign languages like Arabic.
He destroyed many villages and historical sites.

Here is a PDF the shows the names of 66 Assyrian villages he destroyed (go to page 40):

He divided the community by sectarian lines (Chaldean vs Assyrian vs Syriac). This fracture is growing all the time.
1991 Uprising: The uprising by groups such notably Shias which Zowaa, Peshmerga, ICP and other groups supported saw the mass killing of 25,000-180,000 Civilians in which caused long term deformities amongst some Iraqis due to chemical exposure for such a mass form of murder.
1979–80 Shia uprising in Iraq: Al-Sadr's works attracted the people of the Baath Party leading to repeated imprisonment where he was often tortured. The riots erupted in May 1979 and escalated in June. Leading to thousands tortured and killed in Najaf.
The uprising connects with April 1980 of the arrest of Iraqi shia leader Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and his subsequent execution. Many other groups besides Shias hoped for the overthrow of his power (Kurds including) but have failed which lead to mass persecution..
of Shias. Even with or without Saddam in power including before or after his ruling in Iraq, sectarianism would lead on regardless of the situation. Such scenario would be the 1935–1936 Iraqi Shia revolts...
Where Martial law was declared in Diwaniyya by Bakr Sidqi and the full power of the Iraqi airforce and army was deployed against the Shia tribesmen. The same leader that killed 3000 Assyrians in the Similie Massacre.
