#Iraq:
The head of Iraqi Intelligence services Mustafa al-Kazemi will be the new agreed PM. He was selected by all Shia big coalition groups (at the exception of Haidar Abadi), including Moqtada al-Sadr, the main supporter of the pro-US PM candidate Adnan al-Zarfi.
Mustafa al-Kazemi was rejected by Kataeb Hezbollah. However, he enjoys the support of all the other groups or at least these groups accepted not to stand against him. He enjoys an excellent relationship with the #US and #Iran. He was one of the choices of #Qassemsoleimani.
The disagreement of Kataeb Hezbollah indicates once more that #Iran doesn't control the Iraqi groups but enjoys good relationship with these. Indeed, Soleimani, unlawfully assassinated by the #US at #Baghdad airport, failed for 2 months to bring all Shia to agree on one candidate
Khazemi will have to bring the country to new parliamentary elections within a year (more or less) and agreed to reach a deal with the #US forces for their withdrawal from #Iraq. Americans asked for 2 years delay, a demand that was rejected by many Iraqi groups in power.
The reason why Khazemi was not selected at the start is due to the fact that most Iraqi leaders refused to have a military figure leading the country to avoid Saddam Hussein's like-era.
Because Shia failed to agree upon one candidate for several months;
Because according to the constitution the power of selecting a Shia PM went to a Kurdish President Barham Saleh;
Because the President selected an unsuitable candidate totally pro-US and anti-Iran;
Because al-Da'wa party lead by Nouri al-Maliki and Haidar Abadi wanted to take back the leadership of the country to their party (as they have done since 2005), thus agreeing on al-Zarfi;
Because all mediators are fed up of the lack of the Shia unity;
Because Kurdistan (Barzani) is not behind Barham Saleh, would like to maintain good ties with the Shia in #Iraq & wanted to show that selecting a Prsdnt (Barham) against the will of Barzani results in what the President did (ignoring the Shia majority & responded to Moqtada only)
Because Moqtada al-Sadr was promised by al-Zarfi to select any ministry he wants;
Because al-Zarfi was accused of burning the Iranian consulate in Karbalaa and Najaf notwithstanding his denial;
Because al-Zarfi would have triggered a civil war in #Iraq;
Iraqi Shia agreed to agree (Halleluia). It was not & will not be an easy task to bring all Iraqi Shia together to agree on anything. This is why Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon intervene to bring them together not to impose outside will upon them. This has been the case since 2005.
Al-Zarfi doesn't want to stand down until al-Maliki and Moqtada al-Sadr tell him to do so.
Al-Zarfi has lost the support of the Kurds who said they won't go against the Shia coalition will.

He can decide what to do but he will not go through and won't be the new PM of #Iraq.
