Being skeptical is very important. However, skeptics need to know when to draw the line between fear mongering, and genuine reporting on aspects of the virus that China blatantly lied about. You can be both skeptical of information, while also not dismissing it all as sensation.
People are being rightfully critical of China, but then dismiss actual reporting on the virus as fear mongering. I don’t know where to draw that line either, but if you want to bash China for lying, you also need to accept that we are going to have to report on things they didn’t
Even if that reporting draws into question your opinion of what’s going on. We can’t simply say China lied then sit back and pretend everything they said is true regarding the seriousness of the situation.
And the beautiful part is it doesn’t mean you are advocating for lockdowns, it doesn’t mean you are in favor of shutting down the economy, it just means you don’t dismiss information about the virus simply because China said so.
