Hi, the reason why there's no evidence for me being a pedophile is, unsurprisingly, because I'm not a pedophile. I've made this short thread to discuss some of the consequences of deliberately false accusations, clear up the situation, and correct any false rumours.

Firstly, I'll try to cover where this rumour came from. From what I can tell, shortly after I went to sleep last night, aws ( @BurntRomney) tweeted that I was a pedophile, to the encouragement of his close followers. The reason for this claim was because, a couple of weeks ago,--

--Marian and I had a public joke about how we were King and Queen of smptwt. I know this sounds ridiculous, but this is the basis of SERIOUS claims that I'm a pedophile. Aws described this as "flirting with a minor", since I am 19, and Marian is 17.

Not only were the jokes non-sexual and in obvious humour, but a lot of us were told that Marian was 18. In fact, aws and I discussed this over a week ago, where he came to a conclusion that the situation was fine, and yet still decided to make the false accusation this morning.

I didn't want to have to mention Marian in this because she's already been given a tough time from some of the same people accusing, however I want to be as transparent as possible. It's worth mentioning that aws has hated Marian for a long time for being "problematic", and so--

--took a strong dislike to me after my interactions with her. If he really did this because of a grudge, I hope he now understands how severe a mistake it was. NEVER falsely accuse anyone of pedophilia or any sexual crimes just because you hate them.

This is because deliberate false accusations cause incredible harm to real victims of sexual harrassment, assault, and online grooming. We should be able to immediately believe accusers without causing delay while some people question whether they're doing it for attention.

The fact that aws knowingly made a serious false accusation makes the community more unsafe for everyone. I'm not sure whether they expected attention out of it, but they're private now so they have nothing to gain from this. Also, I would never normally name somebody in a post--

--like this, but this is a serious situation and a lot of damage has already been done. He made the conscious decision to do this, even with the consequences this causes for when people call out real pedophiles in the community in the future.

Thank you to the people who immediately realised there was no evidence to back up the claims. Also, to the people who unfollowed/blocked me in the time I was asleep: I don't blame you. You should be able to trust your friends' information and distance yourself from possibly--

dangerous people. If anyone sees people still confused about the situation, I'd appreciate it if you could send them this thread or explain it to them. Also, please don't send hate to the people who repeated the accusations. Yes, some of them spread it purely because they wanted-

--to believe I was a bad person, but most weren't aware of any actual details. Some of aws' friends have already expressed regret, I forgive them it's fine.

I guess the main message to take away is that I'm not a pedophile, never make false accusations, and if there is a reason to call someone out, give plenty of evidence and don't censor names *** otherwise it creates an untrusting, unsafe atmosphere. Thanks for reading.
