Bless the world 🙂
Both my parents didn’t come from a rich family. They were both from the province, my mother simply wore courage and told my father that they should go to Manila. They went to Manila and tried their luck.
My mother didn’t graduate from college. My father took a janitorial job in a bank. We lived in an unsafe place. I remember my mother’s stories on how she ran after a man with an itak in hand to protect her family from harm. My mom’s really brave.
On my father’s side, I guess the lesson that stuck the most wit him was what his professor told them: “walang yumayaman sa pagiging empleyado. Magnegosyo kayo.” And so my father did start businesses.
Growth was slow. Very slow. But both my parents were ambitious. Father even dared to enroll our eldest sister in one of the most expensive schools for girls in QC not knowing how much the tuition was, i believe.
My parents were confident, very confident, that they can provide for whatever their family needed. And provide they did. They were able to send their nine children to prominent universities in the country.
Not only did they send us to schools, but they sent a lot more. They sent their employees’ children to school until they graduate from college.
I’m aware that they made mistakes along the way. I can write a whole essay on how neglected I was as a child, but, it just wouldn’t make things any better.
So I choose, and will always choose, to look at what’s good. Truly, my parents are the legit reason why I believe everything in the world is possible. I can also write a whole essay about that but moving forward.
