I am so frustrated with the healthcare system of our Country right now! My dad has been having #Covid_19 symptoms for 10 days now (fever, diarrhea, couch, body aches, weakness, short breath etc). I called his primary doctor @LaClinica2 and reception told us that they would call
us back, we waited 2 days- No call. Finally I had enough, the doctor was taking too long (I am still waiting for the call) and I called the reception and went off, which I am not proud off and later apologized but I felt so desperate. They finally transferred me to a nurse...
when I described the symptoms and ask for a note so we could go to a testing site in the DMV area, they said No because they are limited and it wont make a difference there is nothing "we can do" just wait it out at home and go to the hospital if he feels worse...
Meanwhile my dad was getting worse. Since they are not having physical visits now, I decided to call and have @TeladocHealth visit, the doctor spoke to him for a few minutes & said yes, he needs to have a test done. I am still waiting on his note ( 5 days ago) to go for a test
Finally I heard @MedStarHealth was doing testing without a note (this is false). They require you to have a videocall with one of there doctors. He told us that the test made no difference and they are using it on people who need it?? (my dad is over 55 and has health conditions)
He him to just stay home and take meds, and if he has trouble breathing go to the hospital. Yet he recommended we stay away from hospitals because if he does not have it, he can get it by being there. I feel so frustrated! I have been doing all I can to care for him..
It is now day 12. I am not sure if to take him to the hospital or not. I still don't know if he actually has the virus. His breathing does not seem that bad. All of the testing sites in the DMV area require a doctors note. Which I still cannot get!
I don't think the governors realize how hard it is to get a note from a doctor to get testing. I imagine we are not the only ones going through this, there are a lot of more #coronavirus cases than being said. @GovLarryHogan @MayorBowser
I understand we don't have enough tests, but there must be a more efficient way to decide who gets a test done. At this point it seems everyone is assuming they have the virus. Other countries are pretty much getting everyone who has symptoms tested, without a doctors note.
