We go with Jesus to Gethsemane with a deeper intensity this Holy Week. Like Peter, James & John, we cannot fully enter in. We will not always stay awake. But we can feel the chill in the air of that early Spring night. We can sense the darkness is not just the dark of the night.

Go. Go sit at that edge this week. Take your dread & your fear of death. Go. Sit a stone’s throw from Jesus. Hear Him ask for the cup to pass. Take your weakness. Your sleepiness. Your wish to be elsewhere. Take it where it belongs. Take it to the garden. You’ll find Him there.

He promises that those who seek Him will find Him. Judas even knew where to find Him that night. Jesus will not hide from you there in that garden. He’ll be deeper in than your eyes can see but He’s there, submitting to the will of His Father. He knows you’re scared of the dark.

Beloved of Christ, He is there in that garden to deal with the dark. It will not overcome Him. And because it will not, if you place your trust in Him, it cannot overcome you. Remain with Him there till the soldiers come then follow Him where He goes.And let the darkness tremble.

Because soon and very soon, He will put the kingdom of darkness to shame.

Hold on through this dark night.
The light is coming.
