Quick story about grading during a pandemic. In my junior U.S. history class, there are two grades CR (full points) or R&R (revise & resubmit). Here in OR, school closed abruptly one week before the end of 3rd quarter.

A lot of kids were mid-revision; some kids hadn’t turned in work at all & they & I were scrambling to make that happen. Yet, teachers were told we needed to post 3rd quarter grades.

I asked my principal if I could enter Pass/Fail rather than a letter grade, since the already-problematic letter grade system was now totally incommensurate to the task. He said no.
