Wisconsin pollworker here. I will be tweeting throughout my shift.

Polls about to open. I’ll be the person registering new voters. /1
We have hand sanitizer, masks, face shields, Lysol wipes, and lots of pens./2
Just registered a landscaper who had recently moved. Has lung issues, taking risk to come here. /3
Registered first time voter, 18 year old. Love to see that! /4
Just registered another young voter, 19yo, wearing bandana and packing sanitizer. Young people move a lot, the most common election-day registrants./5
Just registered a voter who told me he was “voting in defiance”, so angry about circumstances around the election today./6
60% of registered voters requested absentee ballots, a 4-5 fold increase. Absentee ballots are a LOT of extra work to process. /7
Just watched a bent over man in his high 80s or 90s, walking with cane, get his ballot. Hard to watch. /8
Local seniors volunteers sewed numerous face masks for the poll workers here. They are ingenious, very simple but still adjustable, so they fit really well, and are machine washable. They couldn’t work today, but they found a way to help. /9
Voter after voter signing with their fingers, with me following, doing the same. We use the sanitizer, new pen each time, but there’s a lot of proximity. The virus is being moved around today, we know it. /10
Masked and gloved young people, like ninjas, ferrying absentee ballots from the fearful to the polls. Back and forth, all morning. /11
I’ve finished my shift. Immediately came home, threw my clothes in laundry, and took a long hot shower. /12
